The wording of her response embarrasses poor Subaru, who blushes and snaps at her not to say things unnecessarily. Yui instantly relaxes as she gives him a bright smiles and promises him that she will stay by his side for a long time. Gruffly, he tells Yui not to make such a scared face and assures her that she will be fine so long as she does not leave his side. Subaru takes notice of Yui’s anxiety and reaches out to grab her hand in his. Yui, suddenly fearful of the fact that it’s so dark, thinks that if it stays dark like this for too long she may grow to be depressed. Subaru, who is walking beside her, explains that the underworld is currently experiencing a lunar eclipse and that it will be dark like this for quite some time since it takes awhile for the eclipses in the underworld to end. She decides that her newfound calmness is due to the fact that she likes Subaru so much as she cheerfully follows after him.Īs they are walking through the underworld forest towards the Sakamaki’s residence, Yui is surprised at how dark the sky is. Yui feels happy again as she realizes that Subaru truly did come here with the intention to pick her up, and she notices that all her anxiety and uncertainty from earlier have completely disappeared. Subaru’s cheeks are dyed pink as he huffs before snapping at Yui to hurry up as they will be heading into the underworld now. She smiles up at him and tells him that she’s happy he came. Yui explains that she can’t help it, she was scared to be left all by herself and now that Subaru is here with her she feels relieved. Subaru becomes irritated by her laughter and tells her to get rid of the grin on her faceー it’s weirding him out. Yui doesn’t buy Subaru’s obvious lie and happily laughs to herself. He tries to convince Yui he was worried about the state their house was in so he was just dropping by to make sure the wolves didn’t make a mess of the place. Yui immediately breaks into a large smile as she asks Subaru if he came here to pick her up, but he quickly denies such a possibility and tells her not to get the wrong idea. A little flustered, Subaru tries to play it cool as he explains to her that he knew she would obviously try to follow after him as she always does. Yui calls out to him, bewildered, and asks him what he is doing here when he should have already evacuated alongside his brothers. Just as she steels herself and begins to head out, she runs directly into Subaru who seems surprised to find her standing there. She debates with herself for a few moments before deciding to ignore the obvious danger present to her and attempts to head through the door alone. She tells herself that if she goes beyond the door she will be able to meet up with Subaru and his brothers who have already evacuated to the underworld, but is reminded of the fact that she was told to stay behind. Yui is standing alone before a door leading out of the basement of the Sakamaki mansion.
